A Redeemer

March 24, 2012

As I read the news this morning, I was overwhelmed with a sense of God’s presence. I’m not sure this is the usual reaction to the hate crime against Trayvon Martin, civilian killings in Afghanistan and the prosecution of Staff Sgt. Bales, and continued political unrest in Egypt, but all I could think about was the complexity of God’s will for us here. “In the world but not of it” calls us to both live above the turmoil in our world resting in God’s peace and power AND to put ourselves in the middle of it, fighting for justice. How beautiful and just of Him to offer us favor and protection and authority over the evil in the world, and then to send us straight into it to shine His light and do His will and deliver His justice.

It’s comforting to know that I serve a God who transcends the chaos on this earth, but also challenging.

Just some thoughts this morning.
